You must be 18 years of age and have some working knowledge of Microsoft Excel in order to take this class. We are not asking you to be an Excel expert, but at least have some basic knowledge of how this spread sheet software works for the work sheet segment of class.
Do you have private classes for groups of managers?
Yes, we are happy to conduct a private Restaurant Finance class at your facility for groups of eight or more. Email us for more information by clicking on button at end of this section.
Will I be a CPA or Restaurant Accountant if I pass this class?
No, not by a long shot! Becoming a CPA or Restaurant Accountant requires much dedication, schooling and usually passing a rigorous exam. This one-day class is to provide a basic overview of the operation of a restaurant from a financial perspective. You will learn a lot in this class and, most importantly, you will learn how much you don't know and how much more there is to learn.
Do I need to study anything beforehand?
No advance study is needed, though in your restaurant experience there have no doubt been questions you wanted to ask about restaurant finance but did not. Now is the time to ask those questions and hopefully we can answer - or at least provide some insight - and better understanding.
Do I need to bring a computer to class with me?
It is probably best to bring your own laptop with Excel as you would be most comfortable with it's operation. But don't fret if you do not have a laptop as we have Google Chrome Books that can work with Excel that we can loan to you. In either scenario we will provide you with a thumb drive containing MS Word and MS Excel templates on which you can save your work.
Is their an exam?
Yes, there is a short exam requiring a passing score of 75% in order to be awarded a certificate of completion, an example of which is on the left side of this webpage.
Is there a meal break?
We do take a lunch break and eating options include The Airport Café in our building or The Laredo Taco Company next door. And of course feel free to bring any snacks or non-alcoholic beverages that you want to consume during class. Be advised we provide free bottled water and coffee.
